Project Solution

The Ottawa Area Intermediate School District’s Careerline Tech Center (CTC) recently launched an expanded Fire Rescue program that gives students hands-on experience in fire science and emergency response, including classroom instruction and practical skills training aligned with state standards like Fire Fighter I & II certification.

In a major step forward for workforce development, CTC has become one of just 15 state-authorized Regional Training Centers under the Michigan Fire Fighters Training Council and the state’s Fire Fighter Training Division, joining other approved institutions that support firefighting education across Michigan. This designation allows the program to offer state-approved firefighter training and certification directly through the center.

As a result, students age 18 and older can train and earn official Michigan firefighter credentials through the program itself, providing a direct pathway into fire service careers without needing to seek certification elsewher
